What is MBP?
MBP stands for Master Balloon Professional. It is an internationally recognised certification from Sempertex for professional balloon decorators.
With an MBP certification, you demonstrate that you have the creativity, technical skills and professional knowledge required to create high-quality balloon decorations.

How do I obtain the MBP certification?
To obtain the MBP certification, you must take a practical exam organised on predefined dates.
The registration process is as follows:
- Choose an available exam date.
- Add the MBP exam to your shopping cart and complete your purchase.
- Once your payment has been received, we will officially register you with Sempertex.
- You will receive a confirmation email with all practical exam information, including location, schedule and access to the e-learning platform.
Through the e-learning platform, you will gain access to the Marketing and Cost modules. These modules prepare you for the MBP exam components.
Important Information
Please note the following before taking the MBP exam:
- Bring your own Sempertex balloons for the Free Creativity section.
- Bring a printed copy of both your Marketing Proposal and Cost Calculation.
- The required Marketing and Cost modules are available via the e-learning platform after registration.
- All tasks are assessed according to the official Sempertex criteria.
MBP Evaluation Process
The practical exam consists of two parts.
1 Free Creativity (30 points)
Creativity and individual design are central.
Tasks
- Centerpiece (10 points)
- Personal Design (10 points)
- Marketing Proposal (5 points)
- Cost Calculation (5 points)
Requirements
- Use only your own Sempertex balloons.
- Each design must include at least three different balloon sizes.
The Marketing Proposal and Cost Calculation are prepared using the MBP e-learning modules.
Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
2 Decoration at the Jury’s Request (70 punten)
This section assesses your technical and practical skills.
Tasks
- Round balloon techniques (20 points)
- Link-O-Loon design (20 points)
- Organic design (20 points)
- Use of basic tools (10 points)
Requirements
- Balloons are provided by Sempertex.
- Tasks are completed according to the jury’s instructions.
- You apply different balloon sizes and techniques.
Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
